Ridge ventilation

Air circulation starts low down in our greenhouse but hot exhausted air can escape through the handsome full length ridge vents, located on both sides of the greenhouse for optimum air flow. Plants love air movement, you will be rewarded if you offer plenty of fresh air. To this end our vents are automated with heat sensitive cylinders and strong spring mechanisms. 6mm toughened clear glass panels allow maximum light and the openers allow maximum ventilation.

The Victorians certainly knew a thing or two about building greenhouses and it would be arrogant of us to ignore the merits of the design concept behind the traditional Victorian greenhouse design.

This of course includes the high pitched roofs which allow plenty of height in which your plants can prosper. Many of these stunning Victorian Greenhouses remain standing at stately homes to this day and serve as a reminder of a time when British gardens were the envy of the world.

We have taken the merits off this design and incorporated modern manufacturing techniques and the latest materials to produce Victorian Greenhouses that are not only beautiful but also highly functional and built to last.

Gone is the thin 2mm glass and in are 4mm panels which are toughened to ensure that they meet safety glass standards and tightly sealed to standards that you would expect in modern housing.

Our Victorian Greenhouses also feature much larger panes which offer more light to your plants ensuring strength and prosperity for the crops.

We still use timber for some of the detailing such as the sculptural boarding but now this is designed to be long lasting and is ecologically sourced for your peace of mind.

Other design features which have been retained include the high eaves, large capacity guttering, wide hinged doors and the 45 degree roof pitch which remains imposing and impressive aesthetically, as well as bringing practical benefits.

We have a range of Victorian Greenhouse styles for you to choose including those which are designed to sit on a traditional dwarf wall. If you opt for this style of design, we can provide detailed drawings for the wall which will be required so that you or your builder can prepare the wall to the right specification.

Those who are keen to avoid the extra expense of having a dwarf wall build may wish to consider our plant house range of Victorian style greenhouses which come with a boarded base and only require a flat level footing or pad.
