Market Gardening

Let us start off with a little explanation. So, what is a market garden greenhouse?

A Market Garden Greenhouse is essentially defined as a glasshouse which is utilised to grow fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers on a small scale which are then sold onto customers. This is becoming an increasingly popular intention of our customers when they are purchasing one of our luxury greenhouse models.

To help our customers, we have put together this case study with one of our happy owners showing how our most popular sized portrait greenhouse can be easily used to set up a market garden of your very own.

As you can see from the above image, our signature Accoya boarded base helps to provide shade for the roots of the salad crops. Meanwhile, the carefully secured climbers benefit from the high eaves and roof pitch which provides plenty of room for growth. From this, you can clearly see the thought process which always goes into the design of our fabulous range of greenhouses.

Our team will be more than happy to provide each of our customers with advice on the right kind of greenhouse for their specific needs. So if you are looking to set up a market garden of your own, just let us know at the time of choosing your model.

Now here’s a greenhouse idea – if your intention is to set up a market garden greenhouse, then when you are constructing the greenhouse base, why not incorporate some open soil beds to permit growing from the ground?

Our folded down staging would enable plenty of space to be devoted to Summer crops, while our automated low level vents can help to draw in the air which will keep the crops both healthy and well ventilated. Again, just let us know if you are open to the prospect of adding our innovative greenhouse ventilation and staging solutions to your own model.

You can use our greenhouses to grow overwinter plants too. In the Spring, greenhouse staging can be added to raise seedlings which can later be transferred to the cold frame to harden off for outside planting in the raised beds. You can then complete the year at the peak of Summer with your delicious crops of home grown fruit and vegetables.

With all of our greenhouses, we put careful consideration into the collection of rainwater. Our gutter conversion kit allows the water to be collected efficiently in a waterbutt (an exceedingly stylish one, if we may say so ourselves). No wonder our proud owner looks so pleased, as it’s a market garden greenhouse to be proud of.
