Perhaps the highlight of working at Cultivar is seeing the greenhouses that we work hard to produce in their final and very beautiful garden settings. It makes you proud. It makes the whole team here proud, and it’s particularly rewarding when it is the focal point for the renowned family run garden and nursery at Meynell Langley. This family run business know a thing or two about greenhouses and it shows in the diverse range of healthy plants on show.
Approached by a bridge over gentle waters this large Porch greenhouse sits on a traditional brick wall. It measure’s approximately 23 feet in length by almost 11 feet wide, with the porch providing additional width centrally as well as the entrance. Step inside and just look at wide variety of crops on show. A mixture of ornamentals and edibles such as tomatoes and cucumbers there’s something for everyone including cacti, succulents, climbers and a host of house plants.
All seem happy, helped for sure, by the ventilation system on the greenhouse, all cultivar greenhouses come with full length automatic ridge ventilation. But of course there’s more at play here, for starters Robert and his team are experienced growers. A watering system has been neatly installed to keep the plants happy and no doubt to keep the workload down. There’s plenty of ideas here for the aspiring gardener. It just goes to show what can be grown in a greenhouse.
So if you’re in the Derbyshire area and want the opportunity to see a cultivar greenhouse in the flesh then it’s worth checking to see when Meynell Langley is open, and there’s a good excuse to come away with a plant or two from their nursery.
